The capital of Angola and its biggest city is Luanda. It is interesting because of its colonial history fully reflected in architecture. There are some churches of historical significance, dating back to the 17th century. The building of the National Bank of Angola and the Kinaxixi market building are also bright examples of colonial style. It should be said that the capital has two distinct parts: the "baxia" (old part) and the "cidade alta" (new part). Luanda has plenty of sightseeing attractions, such as the Armed Forces Museum, which is housed in the St. Miguel Fort, the Slavery Museum, the National Museum of Anthropology, and others. Another advantage of Luanda is that it is a coastal city. Not far from it there are some famous beaches, among which Santiago, Palmeirinhas, Ilha do Massula beaches. They are lined with palm trees and have white sand.
The second largest province of Angola is Kuando Kubango Province. It is famous for its two great rivers: the Kuando and the Kubango. Namibe Province is the third largest port in the country. The Namib Desert provides the tourists with splendid possibilities for excellent hunting. One of the most attractive spots of this area is Bibala Beach. The locals believe that the water has healing properties, that’s why the tourists are eager to try it. A trip to Angola would be incomplete without visiting the Calandula Waterfalls, located in the province of Malanje. The Calandula Falls is said to be Africa’s second largest waterfall after the Victoria Falls, so it is really worth visiting.
